WBMK Bredasdorp Rally

Saturday, April 26, 2014
Bredasdorp, Overberg, Western Cape

Sixteen car entry sees the return of Paul-Hendrik Franken in a S4 BMW E36 325i. The car built by Jean du Plessis in Malmesbury but now finally converted to rally specification for the Gansbaai engineering student to continue his development as driver. Some doubt however as to whether regular navigator, Henry Köhne, will be able to join him for the Bredasdorp event due to work commitments.

With his examinations written Darren and Llewellyn van Greunen will be back in their ex-Gugulethu Zulu S2 CCMCC VW Golf MkI and the cousins should be raring to go having had to sit out the first round in Klipdale. Neels van Wyk and Jason Thorpe will be taking the S2 CCMCC Toyota Corolla SR5 1600 for a challenging outing.

Still missing on the entry list is Jacques Jansen van Vuuren and Jano Botes who are being regulated by the ETA of the new Botes family member, the Vredendal Toyota S3 Toyota Run X 1.6 ready for action. André George and Hilton Auffray also not present at this stage in the Flying Fridge S3 CCMCC Toyota Conquest RSi 1600 nor are Warren Köhler and Robin Benjamin in the Howard Place Motors S4 BMW E30 325i. The rapid S3 VW Polo 1.6 (awaiting shockabsorbers) of André Cleenwerck and Justin Gay also absent as well as the S2 VW Golf 1600 of Fagerie Isaacs and Tariq Khatib. Hopefully they will still be joining the entry before Saturday.

Round 2 of the Western Province Rally Championship takes competitors to the capital of the Overberg, Bredasdorp, on Saturday 26 April 2014. As always Lance Maytham and Pierre van der Westhuizen head the Witzenberg Motorklub organising team and the traditional fast format of this event rarely disappoint when it comes to incidents and exceptional performances.

Having once again fallen foul of driveshaft issues on the Sasol Rally (still battling with the same problem in a works environment?) the Mantinou Group VW Polo R2 1600 will be traded for a Jean du Plessis (Malmesbury) built S4 BMW E36 328i for regional events and this can only lead to great tussles with the now sorted ex-Anton Smit class S4 BMW E36 328i of Shaun Jones and Mark Avice du Buisson. Reliving the Nissan Skyline era with BMW E36's could prove pretty entertaining.

Ashley Haigh-Smith and Damian van As rolled preparing for the Sasol Rally and found themselves on the back foot throughout. Quite possibly they will be present to shakedown their AHS Ford Fiesta R2 1600 in preparation for the next national.

Attached please find the Supplementary regulations and Entry Forms and take note that the Numbers Function will take place at the CPMCC Rollbar on Wednesday 1621:00 April 2014.

See you in the Overberg

The Speed Pro Cycling Components S5 Subaru Impreza Turbo 4x4 Turbo of John and Weston Peiser slithered it’s way to a fine victory in the Witzenberg Motorklub Bredasdorp Rally on Saturday 26 April 2014. The unexpected wet weather conditions caught almost everyone unprepared and it would prove to be quite entertaining and challenging for the fifteen crews to complete the eight stages...
